Can i get FS1 for this use ?
 
I plan to record thru FS1 onto a ide drive (Seagate 7200 PRM 80GB) cased into Firewire casing. Later i connect this cased drive to my laptop without FS1 interface can i do field editing ?

I have winxp, Adobe Prem 6.5

Edge Lifestyle 1555 (Intel BTO notebook) 15" , 512 MB RAM, Firewire, Centrino 1.4 processor

Any views !!!

Please be a littlebit more patient. You posted your request only about 3 hours ago and the firestore device is not widely used. A user with some experience with the unit will surely answer you back soon.

Just the other day I recorded about a half hour of video on an FS1.

I disconnected the external Firewire drive, connected that drive to my Mac G4 without the FS1, and the Mac mounted the Firewire drive as usual. i was able to copy the files onto my RAID.

Note that the FS1 can be set up to write to several different file formats. Be sure to choose the right one to ensure compatability with your particular editing system.

Off topic, I had to smile a bit seeing that you're from India. So often people the U.S. end up being directed to call centers in India for tech support. For once it's the other way around ... :-)

Well the world is round !!! You give and you take. The story goes on like this. But m question is this when i have 40GB HD on my Laptop and i dont want to copy the whole footage on to my laptops HD then what do i do ... cani edit fro the FS1 HDD as if i were doind the same from an external AV drive.

Hi Bankim,

Yes, it is possible to simply disconnect the FireWire drive from FS-1 and connect it to a laptop and begin using the clips directly form the drive itself...just like any external drive.
