Displaying HD content for tradeshows
 

I'm not sure which forum to put this in, so I'll start here...

A client of mine wants me to prepare some HD footage I recently shot for them into a looping playback for an upcoming trade show they are exhibiting at. Originally I was going to try and do it on a Blu-ray disc/player combo. Now I'm thinking in terms of a portable hard drive type system. The footage is being processed from a Canon XH A1 via Prospect HD, effects in After Effects, and then ready for output. Total time of the video is 8 minutes.

Any suggestions on how to offer a reasonable solution to my client?

Seems to me (depending on the number and type of display devices, of course) that the easiest stand alone solution for such a short segment would be to run it off a laptop that can provide the necessary DVI 1920 X 1080 to either a DVI or HDMI screen.

The Blu Ray option might actually be cheaper and more robust however. It also has the advantage that the HDMI out is more likely to work with a HDMI screen, DVI - HDMI being less than a certainty.

you don't specify much info, like buget, size constraints, front projection,
rear projection, ect...ect....

So I'll assume rear projection... so you'll need to find out what size of screen. Then go to a supplier and purchase a HD ready TV... most likely
a LCD or Plasma...

Now to play back the HD footage... at present the most versatile option would be the Sony PS3...

The PS3 has the HDMI outputs, it also has a built in hard drive that you can put your footage on, it also has USB inputs so you can have the footage on
a external hard drive for play back also....

Just make sure your footage is setup for loop playback...

This setup will work with just about any format of video you could throw at it...
