Can JVC CU-VH1 play tapes from Sony HDR-FX1?
Can JVC CU-VH1 play tapes from Sony HDR-FX1?
Based on the JVC website it only plays back up to 720p recordings, but I would think it would support all HDV-compliant tapes. |
It looks like it can based on the product brochure listed here.
Here's what it says; Quote:

Ken Freed is indeed the man. Do a search here and put in his name. I think his contact info is there, but I'm not sure.

The CU-VH1 does not play back the tapes for the Sony HDV cameras.
It will output 1080i but that is an upconversion from the normal JVC HDV content. |
Tested?
Phil,
Is that tested results or an 'educated' guess? Thanks. Troy |
Troy,
This was confirmed via testing. CineForm has the CU-VH1 and the Sony cameras. The Sony cameras however will play the JVC tapes. Not really very suprising actually. BTW don't you owe me a JY-HD10U for being wrong about JVC DVHS decks being able to record the Sony HDV content? ;) |
As far as I've heard, there have been successful attempts at getting the FX1 to connect to D-VHS decks according threads on sonydvinfo.com....
You've tested otherwise I assume? :) Troy |
The JVC 30000 DVHS VCR will recognise and even decode the incoming Sony HDV stream but fails during playback. The video breaks up with MPEG errors constantly.

D'oh!
