scart adaptor?
Is there any way I can have a scart adaptor installed onto my FX1? Becuse I really dont want to go the ZIU route and pay an additional $1,000

Do you really mean Scart as in the European AV connectors found on the back of European TVs and VCR/DVD players?
Don't you mean XLR, as in the professional microphone/balanced audio connectors? |
Oops. I goofed.
What I'm trying to get at is, Will this unit (http://www.beachtek.com/dxa6.html) work for the FX1? |
That should work. Do you really need phantom power though, or just the balanced XLR's? If you don't need phantom power then this model is less expensive:
http://www.beachtek.com/dxa4.html FWIW, the Z1 includes a lot of other improvements over the FX1 aside from the XLR inputs. See the following: http://www.hdvinfo.net/articles/sonyhdrfx1/compare.php |
A SCART on an HD! Best yet! ! ! Sorry, it's a British thing . . "SCART - Once invented you can't get rid of!"
Thanks Jesse - I was really feeling down in the dumps today . . Grazie |

But anyways, I'll look into one of the DXA adaptors and see what I can get. Jesse PS :: And yes, I do need phantom. Because if it isnt, the mics would be self powered (internal battery) or non-powered (like a dynamic microphone), or via a mixer.. |
i am not sure will this work for you, but it's cheap and converts rca/chinch to xlr (and viceversa) - check datavideo site:
http://www.datavideo.info/products/bac03.htm i think this unit costs about 120 euro (maybe less? not sure) hope this can help filip |
