Best software/workflow for ingesting HDV tape?

Hello all, Things have been going smooth until today, I was editing a wedding and right during the vows there were some 'lags" in the video. I confirmed the tape did not have a lag and ingested with different program and was fine. This brought me to the question of "what are the most recommended software programs for ingesting HDV tape?"

I use an HDV cam permanently mounted at my workstation.
I disconnect from LAN during ingest
I shut off antivirus during ingest
I set power settings to 2 hour for monitor to shut off during ingest

I had been routinely ingesting with VideoStudio Pro Capture.
When I re-ingested this tape today, I used Roxio Capture.

Any better workflow recommendations? Both above programs would ingest at MPEG 1440 1080 which was pretty good to work with as AVCHD seems to edit a bit more slowly.

Thanks all...

Most tape is recorded digitally to hdv. You would need to offload to the computer using a capture program and camera is connected via firewire. HDVSplit is a free program available for years that captures the HDV stream, and also breaks it down into individual files, based on camera's original stops and starts. This program does not convert to another format.

Ditto for HDVSplit as an option for ingesting the digital video data right off the tape.

Else, you would have to look at some analogue / HDMI ingest options.
