HD vs Film

I just got back from AFM and was suprised how important film look was to all the distrubutors. If you are making an indie movie and want to get distribution I recomend you do everything thing you can to make it look like film. Even if you only spend a few grand and the final product is only ever going to be on DVD they want it to look like you shot film.

Now my question. Is there anywhere I can get a DVD or see a comparison of footage shot on different formats/cameras, digital and film and see what they look like at the end on standard def DVD to help decide which camera to use for different projects?

Basically I would like to see a DVD with the same footage shot from different cameras like:

This would be a great DVD for digital to film transfer places like DVfilm or Digital Film Group to have. I would be willing to pay to see something like this. If anyone knows of such a DVD please let me know or if someone has access to resources to make such a DVD I am interested to know how much it would cost to get you to do it?

I know it's not exactly what you're after but...
Comapre the star wars movies - Episode 1 with Episode 3
Similar style, abliet the latter is a lot darker, but I think you can definately see the difference in the two. Episode 3 is much cleaner - almost too much.

You mean episode 2 and 3.
But indeed, I thought Episode 3 looked a little bit too clear too.

BTW: Superbe idea for that DVD, I think everybody on these boards would want to see that, but I think it would be pretty expensive to make.

I am looking for a little more than just comparing film to F900 I would get from ep1 vs ep3.

I agree this would be a little expensive, but if someone had access to the resources required they should be able to easily make their money back in sales of the DVD or they could use the final product as a marketing tool if their company does digital to film transfer.

dusty... if you need a dvx for testing, just hollar! :) haha...

ill be on the look out for such a dvd as well and if i see anything, ill let you know! :)
