Shooting NTSC for PAL also

I did a search and found a similar question but no answer as of yet so I thought I'd throw it in here.

I'm heading to Japan to shoot a project with our Canon XL-H1 and I was going to shoot in HD 24f. This project will also be sent to our headquarters in Europe, possibly just raw clips, not sure yet but it will mostly be used here in the states for our website and possible broadcast.

Is it best for me to shoot HD 24f? Will this make for an easier and better conversion to PAL? I'm not opposed to shooting in 30i or 60i if this would be better. What do ya think?

Cheers,
D

IN my opinion, I'd shoot in 60i and use software to change it to 50i and 24p, such as Nattress Filters (www.nattress.com) for Final Cut Pro users, DVFilm Atlantis (www.dvfilm.com/atlantis) for FCP and PC users. There are many others, too.

Do you want the footage to be shot interlaced(stay interlaced) or progressive, and stay progressive. I'm not familiar with a 60i to 50i conversion, but shooting 24p and applying a slight speed change in post to get 25p is very simple and quick.
