Canopus and Gateway compatability

Im on the verger of purchasing a Gateway system and installing a Canopus DVStorm.

The Gateway is a model 700L, with a 2 GHz processor, and an nVidia GeForce2 MX200 display card. I'll install a second hard drive, and maybe a DVD vurner myself.

Does anyone see any compatability issues with the DVStrom, and does the display card support "overlay" (or whatever it is that allows viewing on the monitor)?

Thanks,

Eddie

The motherboard will be the primary determiner of compatibility regarding the DVStorm. Any way to find out what Gateway has for a motherboard in that system?

I got a reply from Canopus, and they say the unit would be compatable. Im obviously trying to save about $1000 here versus a tailored assembled system, so based on the input from Canopus, Im tempted to go forward. The only pain at that point is that the Gateways (and Dells) have only two full-size bays available on the front, so with a CDROM, the canopus interface, and maybe a DVD burner down the road, I'd be one slot short....

There are authorized Canopus integrators who will build a system for you, guaranteed to work properly right out of the box, for only a couple hundred more than the cost of building it yourself. Contact the forum moderator, John Crowe, as he is one of these excellent integrators. Also join us over at www.justeditors.com for Canopus topics.
