Add Edius 3.0 to the HDV tribe
3.0 will have HDV support and you can mix it with other standards if I read the specs correctly.
With a 3.2 gig processor and fast disks, you apparently can get RT with two layers of HDVideo including some video and sound filters plus transitions. At $149 to upgrade from version 2.51, this appears to be a bargain. |

anyone know the spec for a laptop to grab hdv m2t using Edius Pro 3?
just interested in the grabbing and not editing on the laptop so Im hoping for a lower spec requirement over a desktop |
I'd say you'd be fine with a P4 2.4
For capturing you only need the bare minimum because capturing isn't CPU intensive, editing is. The minimum specs for Edius Pro are assuming you want to edit the HDV footage. |
For capture I would imagine any FireWire equipment laptop would work (including P3s.) Only native HDV editing needs the recommend dual Xeon system.
|
Edius 3 seems to be THE choice for laptop capture since only the capture app needs to be in memory not the full app, nice move Canopus!
on say a 1.5G P4 laptop would you think I could get a decent preview window size when capturing? |
John,
That is also how Aspect HD works. The capture tool (HDLink) is independent of Premiere Pro. Even when using the CineForm HD format, you can delay the conversion of a later time (or a faster PC.) |
