Edius Neo and proDad Question

I have been using Vegas, but received a copy of Edius Neo Booster with my Panasonic AVCCAM (AG-HMC40). I have been working on learning Edius.

I noticed that on the Grass Valley website it says that Edius Neo comes with a couple proDad plug-ins (mercalli, shaker and vitascene). I cannot find them in my copy of Edius Neo Booster. There seems to be two possible explanations for this (1) the plug-ins are there but as a noob I am not looking the the right place or (2) the complimentary copy included with my camera does not include the plug-ins.

Can anyone provide any insight on this (e.g., if the plug-in are there where do I look)?

the plugins won't be there until you install them

I don't know about Neo, but in the full version of Edius, these plugins are on the Bonus disk, not on the Edius disk

Thanks. It looks like the complimentary copy shipped with the Panasonic AVCCAM cameras do not have these features - they only ship with the main Edius Neo program disk.

Open up the disk in Windows Explorer and check for a folder called "bonus" something. If it's there, click on the .exe file to install.

I took a close look at the installation DVD and there is no bonus section. So it seems pretty clear that the complimentary copy of Edius Neo is lacking a few features. I wonder if there is an upgrade path to the full version of Edius Neo?

I think your version IS the full version of Edius Neo; what you are looking for is not part of the actual editing software, but are add-ons, third party software. Grass Valley throws those in as a bonus for customers purchasing the software directly from Grass Valley.

Your situation is pretty typical... you got something, but not the whole thing.

Camera manufacturers (sometimes the merchant selling the camera) adds some software to get you started on video editing. I purchased a Sony Z1U camcorder from B&H several years ago, and B&H gave me Sony Vegas, but again, not "the real deal"... it was one version behind the then current version.

It won't hurt to give your regional GV distributor a call... you never know what they might be willing to do to win you as their loyal customer.
