I have seen things like this on a couple different Canon cameras now. Do they offer it for their full line or is it just the EOS C's that they are doing it with?

Texas Media Systems can do a Canon lease on any Canon Pro Video, Broadcast, or Cinema EOS lens or camera. We can also add accessories like tripod or wireless mics as long as 90% of the value is Canon products.

Why are they calling it a lease with a $1 buyout? Seems overly complicated for what looks to be simple financing.

The $1 Buyout option is noted to let customers know that the lease is not a Fair Market Value (FMV) lease where the equipment reverts back to lease company at the end of the term.

Once the last payment of $1 is received by the lease company, the leaser owns the equipment outright.

Also, the IRS treats $1 Buyout Leases and FMV lease differently for tax purposes.

A good portion of our customers have never done a lease, so we try to make sure everyone knows exactly what they are getting into.
