High frame rate (SlowMo) camera search

I have looked all through the DVinfo threads and felt this was the best place to ask the question.

I am in searching for a high frame rate (slow motion) portable camera.

At NAB I checked out the Phantom line and am talking with Abel about them. They are too expensive and I know people will say rent. But if I can find a lower priced and even lower frame rate camera it will work hard all the time. So I thought there might be other options that I have been missing. I know there are loads of cameras made for factory monitoring but I need a portable solution not one hooked up to a Ethernet cable and computer with frame rates in the 500+ range.

Any constructive help greatly appreciated.

What kind of budget did you have in mind? Frame rates of 500fps at any kind of HD resolution is hard to achieve, so it's pretty pricey.

Thanks for the response Arnie,

I am trying to come in under the Phantom Flex v640 cost which shoots up to 2400fps.

Hi Paul...though a much lesser cost and performance option, maybe you should check out this

Fastec Imaging - High Speed Digital Cameras - Industrial Cameras

specifically the Troubleshooter model.
If you find any useful info, please report back since I am also interested.
Good luck,

Pedro
