I need a photo of Tim's shoe!

1 Attachment(s)
yes that's right, not just anyone's shoe - it's Tim's shoe and it's in Washington DC from the 6th to the 9th of July.

Multiple System Atrophy Awareness Tim’s Shoe Info

The shoe is used to raise awareness on Multiple system Atrophy - never heard of it? - that's why we need to raise awareness - up to 10% of Parkinsons sufferers could actually have MSA.

The world authority on the condition is Prof Wenning from Austria and he is publishing a book soon - his publisher has said that he can include a photo of the shoe but the only ones we have are just snapshots and include locations, people etc - we need a clean 'product shot'- something with good lighting on a neutral background.

If you would like to help and get a credit in the book please let me know.

I've attached a pic of the Prof. signing the shoe in Sydney recently

Re: I need a photo of Tim's shoe!

update:

the show will be at the Embassy Suites hotel in Herdon, Virginia from Friday to Sunday.

if you're close & have the time it would be a great help.

How do we find camera operators in our area?

Hi,

We are looking to hire a couple operators in the Connecticut/New York area as subcontractors. Is there a website better then monster.com to post these jobs?

Where do camera ops go when looking for work?

Darren Levine August 7th, 2013 08:47 AM

Re: How do we find camera operators in our area?

we're actually working on a system just for that. MediaHalo we're a few weeks away from launch where you'll be able to find shooters by location/equipment/etc...

many turn to craigslist which can be a nightmare. i also happen to be a NYC shooter, and depending on the timeframe might be able to be of assistance

Re: How do we find camera operators in our area?

You might also want to try LinkedIn. There you may even find that others you know can recommend cam ops, or provide other feedback.
Other possibilities include some of the freelance sites like guru, odesk, and there are likely others.

The only other thing I'd suggest is if you're looking for a cam op, know that what you're asking for is someone who knows how to use their/a camera, i.e. how to focus, pan, and zoom smoothly, how to white balance, and what settings to use for your purpose. That implies you know what you want shot.
If you don't know and don't have a shot list, storyboard, or other guide about what is to be shot, and haven't written a script (if it's called for), then you may need more than a camera op.
I know there are a lot of folks and OMBs here who provide more than only camera operation, e.g. pre-production work, writing, directing, etc., but if you're asking for/expecting such things, you should be prepared to pay for those additional services.

RE: Mediahalo...I've visited that site in the past and was disappointed. I hope a new approach makes it something much more worthwhile.

Darren Levine August 19th, 2013 12:39 PM

Re: How do we find camera operators in our area?

it's gone through a handful of old iterations which were its false starts, i started it with some paid interns and it got going but then other things got it the way and it went stale, then i started it up again based on shooter lists, and then finally my programming friend after never being able to find a project which he could sink his teeth into agreed to partner up on it. that was a little over a year ago, and despite his full time job coding at jp morgan, he's been hard at work on it. he just released the hopefully second to last round of releases that im bug checking now, and once we release it, it'll be open for anyone to make suggestions on what they the users want to be added/changed. if you don't like something, say it, if you want to see something, request it, it'll be an evolving thing.

i can tell you that the primary idea at launch is to let people know that before looking to craigslist to hire someone, and deal with making an ad and then sorting through disorganized emails in the hundreds if not thousands, first see if you can find an ideal shooter on mh with a few clicks.

Editor in Montreal Needed - Long Form Corporate

I am looking for an editor in Montreal to finalize a project I shot that I do not have time to edit for the client.

The project involves cutting up interviews and audio to be used in a long form 10-15 minute edit and getting a good dialogue flow for the project. No need to worry about polishing it/grading and making it final at this point as additional footage will be added in the future and that second job will be available as well if the work is good.

Send me an email or post here, I will be monitoring the thread actively. I can send a PDF brief on the project overall to those available.

Footage was shot on 7D/C300 and can be delivered directly. I am located in Laval and can travel into montreal to deliver the footage. Deadline is kind of tight, but I can give details through email.

Thanks

EX-3 operator needed, camera will be provided in Santa Clara, CA.

I just got a call from a producer, he's shooting a live "Indian Matrimony Making TV Show." The talent will be speaking Hindi or Tamil. They are looking for a camera operator (English speaking is fine) but they are willing to pay only $150 cash for the shoot. The show will be shot with 4 cameras in the Santa Clara Convention Center this Friday. They are looking for an operator to help set up the cameras at 12:30pm, then shoot the program. He said the program itself is 3 hours long. Any takers? FWIW, I never heard of anyone paying this low...lol

Oren Arieli October 24th, 2013 05:38 PM

Re: EX-3 operator needed, camera will be provided in Santa Clara, CA.

Please tell me you're kidding. $150 per camera for 3 hours might be a reasonable amount...but the entire thing for $150? Someone needs a reality check. Do they know the housing/living costs of Santa Clara? I sure do!

Warren Kawamoto October 24th, 2013 08:01 PM

Re: EX-3 operator needed, camera will be provided in Santa Clara, CA.

Sorry for the confusion, it was $150 per person (each camera.) Person needed to set up, operate, then break down everything, he said probably a 5 hour + gig as they run on "Indian time" in which everything runs late.

When he said $150 per cameraman, I still thought that was too low.

Anyway, they emailed me and said all the positions have just been filled.

Re: EX-3 operator needed, camera will be provided in Santa Clara, CA.

I can better that. Just read an add for video operator for wedding ฃ50 per event. Need your own transport as you could be all over the country. Scotland
