you can use the a1 to import older dv footage, you can use the xl or gl to import from the xha1 if you shot dv but not hdv.

Low-light video without lights

Eddie,

I know this is a hi-def forum, but since you're already using std cams, I'll talk about both formats -

The Sony VX2100 and PD170 are the low-light "kings" if you need full color and minimal grain in standard definintion. Sony FX1 is still the best low-light hi-def cam as far as I'm aware.

If you can do with greenish "Cops" like nighttime video, you may want to check out something like the AG-DVC60 3-CCD DV PROLINE Camcorder from Panasonic. According to their blurb, it is "highly suitable for professional monitoring and surveillance use. It boasts an Infrared recording mode that can record in darkness to make night-time recording easy and hassle-free."

But your best bet is to coax those bass and deer to come indoors and use studio lights. :-)
