HD editing software list - need input
 

I'm compiling a list of HD editing software options for a presentation I'll be doing soon and would appreciate any input to help fill out the following list. I know there's plenty more which belongs on here...thanks!

Final Cut Pro 6 can edit AVCHD, as can Vegas. I like FCP a lot, and I'm checking out Vegas with a friend who is a power user.

Edius has an AVCHD convert to the Canopus HQ codec so it too can work with AVCHD. Having said that I have Edius 4.5, Vegas 8 and a SOny SR7 the conversion time for AVCHD in either of these programs is very long!! I have decided to get a Blackmagic Intensity and capture from HDMI instead.

Newtek's SpeedEdit is an addition for the HDV list.

This subject needs a well maintained sticky thread...
 

Obviously we are not making the best of our dispersed knowledge and experience...

So we need some guru to compile AND maintain a list of LINKS to

- appraisal reviews
- forum posts PER TOOL

PS/ www.womble.com has a very cheap tool for editing HDV, veryfast and efficient, specially for simple cuts and edits

The list should include the computer power needs of each brand. I just discovered on the Pinnacle web site that their Studio Ultimate has a minimum requirement of a core duo 2.4 GHz to edit AVCHD- whereas I only have a mere 2.13- when I got my Dell in the spring, I thought that would be powerful enough- I didn't want to spend hundreds extra for the 2.4- but it looks like I shoulda. Instead I put the money into Dell's 24" flat screen and a high end video card. Video and RAM needs should also be listed. This would make a good magazine article.

Also, if you're going to break down the different Avid's... there's Avid Symphony Nitrus and I think a few others in Avid's higher-price-bracket :)
