Just to add my 2 cents, I would go for a Nvidia 8800 or the new ATI HD. Moreover, seeing your specs, you will be able to have Mac OsX Leopard on your "PC" (hackintosh). In this case, ATI is better.

Well, a bit too late... I already got the hardware, so I'll stick with my cheaper Nvidia 8600 and see how it goes. If I eventually try to make my PC a MAC, and this card gives me problems, I'll remember your tip :-) thnks

Actually.... in a way this leads me to another question. Doesn't have too much to do with video editing, but rather computer and software knowledge.

I read somewhere (possibly in this forum...) a description of someone's dual boot setup, in which he has Windows XP insalled twice - each installation in its own hard drive partition. The reason for this is to have one OS for normal everyday computing, which means having all kinds of different programs running, browsing internet, and so on... and then dedicating the 2nd OS for video editing ONLY. This means that on this partition he just installed Windows XP, his video editing suite and whatever other software he needs for the purpuse of editing video - and no more.

Is this something you guys recommend?
