Premiere CS3 and hd editing for xp windows
 

Hi,
do you have any problems with premiere cs3 for hi def editing?
Is it working well for you? Is your final product in hi def blu ray or dvd ?


I'm asking this so that i can choose what software to use. Thankyou all in advance.

I use CS3 in XP-32 and have while the software runs very stably, I find it doesn't like to play with HDV at all. I've had significant problems with capturing from HDV--I can never see a preview as I capture or listen to audio as I capture, it won't do scene detect for me, and about every five or six tapes it'll run through the whole capture process, read off the correct TC and everything, and then when I go and drop the clip to my timeline, I find its completely blank. That said, I'd highly recommend investing in Cineform's Aspect HD. I've tried out the trial version and it works wonderfully with Premiere. I'm asking my boss for it today at our projects meeting.

Otherwise, I really like CS3 and I find the components (Premiere/After Effects/Encore/Soundbooth) work very well together.

I usually use HDVSplit utility for HDV capturing with scene split - HDV capture utility to capture HDV so I'm not plagued with any of the capture problems with Premiere when editing HDV. Fortunately, I usually edit DVCPro HD and it is just a matter of dragging P2 content to a hard drive.

Premiere CS3 has been very stable, the most stable since 5.1 ;-).

Adobe's Media Encoder is finally something to write home about. I'm still on the fence about Encore. I find that it is either the best thing since sliced bread or a dismal failure depending upon your specific machine, drivers, configuration, wind velocity, and will of the gods.

If it works, it works. If it doesn't, well...
