Solid State HDs for editing?

Anyone here using solid state drives for editing. It seems from my cursory research that they read like the dickens (2 to 3x even the fastest 10000 rpm platter drives) but write a bit slowly.

Any real world experience out there?

Any theoretical advice?

i have not tried it but my friend claims it is a little slower than the solution I have attached below. Seems to be able to max the speeds and very good for off loading footage.
