I really like the BlueRay suggestion... It's not HDV, but the quality is archival and it could be used for future projects.

In terms of HDV output, I have heard that if you are on a PC, you can print to tape with the camera unplugged and it will generate an HDV file on your HDD.

But, last time I researched this, I think the above technique only works on a Windows machine? Can anyone confirm this?

This has been my only gripe with Premiere... I really wish they had the same export options as FCP (the export as source, or whatever it is called in FCP... That option is so nice!)
