720 50/60P in 1080/25 timeline slomo
What's the easiest way to get 720/50P footage into a 1080/25P FCP timeline to run as slomo?
Cheers, Steve |
The easiest way is to right click on the media in the timeline and select Speed and change the value. The better way of doing it is changing the media playback speed flag in Cinema Tools and then importing it.

Thanks Shaun, any loss in quality to expected with any of these methods? Because this is not de-interlacing or other such trickery involved I assume it'll keep full quality as it's 50 frames still, just shown over a period of 2 seconds rather than 1, and basically just like a Varicam does it (I know it's not quite the same, but the end result is 50 full frames).

Using the Cinema Tools option should map the 50 frames over 2 seconds while the Speed adjustment will double up frames. If you can, use the Cinema Tools option. Just be aware that (unless I'm mistaken) that this method rewrites the flag on the actual media file. If you need to use it elsewhere at 50P, duplicate the file(s) in question and change THOSE.

Thanks Shaun, that's pretty much what I assumed.
The only pain I suppose would be having to transcode to an I-frame codec before it'll allow you to conform. But, having said that I suppose transcoding to Prores HQ? would be the best plan anyway rather than staying in XDCam. Steve |
My ONE experience with Cinema Tools was using ProRes (non HQ) so yes, I ASSUME that will work just fine.
