no firewire to firewire cable with HD1?

What am I missing here? Does the camera really not come with a i.link to i.link cable? Isn't that the only way to import video stream to the camcorder?

Can I buy any firewire cable - or are there specific requirements that I need to know.

While I am asking questions - does anyone know anything about importing from D-VHS player to the editing software - it seems to imply with the JVC software that it can't be done - I assume with the purchasable software - that it is possible - right?

As for the cable, as far as I know with the HD1, you need to buy a 6 pin to 4 pin FireWire cable (aka, iLink).

Don't know about your DVHS edit question. Anyone care to field that part?

I was able to us the HD Capture software that came with the camera to download from the JVC 30K D-VHS. It took a little longer than I expected for the PC to recognize the JVC 30K D-VHS for some reason, but then it showed up in the dropdown box just like the camera.

There is no cable because it will depend on the computer you are using.

Some computers only come with a 4 pin FW interface, while others have the 6 pin interface.

It makes sense actually.
