Curious about PentiumM chips...

This might not be the right forum for this question...

But... what are the advantages of using a pentiumM chip???

Of course good batt time... but anything else????

At all?

I am trying to create a mobile editing station and thinking should I get a pentiumM laptop.... or a straight out... p4 3.6mhz?

Any input would be greatly appreciated and thanks!

Speaking for Aspect HD, the fastest Pentium M's on a laptop work well. Your biggest challenge on a laptop will be the drive speed, so consider using an external 7200 rpm Firewire/USB drive. Also more memory will get you more sustained RT performance, so spring for as much memory as your budget will allow - 1GB min, preferably 2GB. With 1080i material, you'll get atl east dual-stream RT performance with an occassional third stream depending on what you're doing.

I personally have a 3.2GHz (desktop CPU) laptop, and I'd rather have a 2.13GHz Pentium M because the form factor is more manageable with better battery life when I'm not doing video work.
