PPro 1.51 and Edius NX

Okay, trying to get a real time HD output going on my timeline.

I just bought the Matrox APVe card to try, but found out my computer does not have the PCI-e x16 slot, only a x8.

So, has anyone tried using the Edius NX h/w with PPro?

Thanks

Dave

I have Nx but have migrated from Ppro to Edius. Right now I would have to say the Nx plugin for Pro for HDV is not solid enough to reccomend it. You get a preset that enables capture through the Nx to canopus HQ codec (which is an excellant codec for hdv) and Rt playback with full frame full resolution out to monitor via component....but not much else. The native Ppro effects are all that you can use and none save for short transitions are RT. With Edius the Rt with the Canopus effects is sweet but my guess is you are married to PPro(I like it as well and use it for certain jobs that I can't do in Edius). The plan as I am told is once certain improvements are made to Edius, Canopus will then make a full plugin for PPro that will allow the use of Canopus effects in RT with Ppro effects(some RT and some not RT)....but that could be a while. One advantage to the Nx is it does work as a ADVC device(like a deck or camera) inside Ppro so you can get video out in a native Ppro SD preset. That works great for SD and video out but the Cineform plugin developed for Adobe turns off or doesn't allow you to have the usual option of video out via a deck or camera so in a PPro HDV preset you can't get to the card. If you are interested in full frame full resolution video out and RT give Edius a shot. They have a try version on the site.
