Mac Book Pro Capabilities...

I am very curious about the possibilities of editing HD/HDV on a Mac Book Pro. I know the MBP is advertised for such capabilities, but does anyone know how good (or Bad) the performance of Final Cut Pro on the Mac Book is truly?

I am also curious about this. Is a Mac Book Pro good enough to edit HDV?

Mac Book Pro

Yes,
The Mac book pro loaded with ram does a really good job with HDV.

i've edited HD footage on my G4 power book - so it should definitely be possible on a new intel mac!!

Yeah, I'm editing HDV on this MacBook (not Pro), and it's wonderful.

HDV works well on Intel Macs with enough RAM

Editing HDV on a MacBook Pro in FCP5 or 6 works well. I have 3 gigs of RAM and have had no problems. Using Color for grading in FCP 2 is another issue altogether! Check out the info on this site regarding use of the ProRes for editing HD material if you are using FCP2. Lots of good info here that may enhance your MacBook Pro performance.
