Dual DVI, keyboard, mouse, and 7.1 audio KVM $380...good deal?

I am trying to re-work my current set-up and I found this KVM switch at TigerDirect and am on the fence. The price is a little over the top but the features sound like what I need. SO I thought I would see if any of you have tried this switch or something similar and might have alternate solutions.

Here is the problem. I have a nice desktop editing station with dual monitors, an older station (with dual DVI out) I use for graphics design and print serving (when my primary is rendering) and a steady client who is about to send me a high-end laptop for their editing and web support projects (with dual DVI output.) I would like to link everything so that I can share the same monitors, keyboards, mouse, and speakers and keep my resolution at 2560x1024.

Here is a link to the item:
Iogear 4-Port DVI KVMP Switch w/ 7.1 Audio&Cables at TigerDirect.com
and another to a review:
Gaming Nexus - IOGEAR GCS1784 - Review - by John Yan

Does this look like a good solution or are there better ways to achieve this?

Surely, I can't be the first one to try to work out this type of a set-up. Hopefully, it just got missed in all the other awesome threads on here and some one will be coming along shortly with more advice.

I have been using KVM switches both at home and at work for some 4-5 years now, however not the high-end models you need, just the good old VGA ones, for two computers.

They both worked flawlessly all these years.

Ervin,
Thanks for the reply. Have you used them on your primary editing station before?

Ervin Farkas September 27th, 2009 08:33 AM

Yes, the one at home switches between my editing station and a Vaio laptop I use for e-mail and internet (typing on it right this moment) - I keep them completely separated and switch with the KVM.
