My New Jib
 

I have just got a EzFx crane with the total xtndd reach 10' plus the pedestal at max stretch gives me height of 20'. Now i wish to know what should be my choice for a good resonably priced Remote Pan Tilt head to mount a typical DSR400 with Anton bauer Hytron 120 batt with a J11 canon lens all amounting to about 8 or 9 kilograms of weight on the head !!!

Also, Howd I calculate what height will my 10feet arm give to my camera, I ask so cox I plan to mount another 4feet extension along with few more addition of Tension cables (how far is that advisable) !

you don't necesarily need to calculate the maximum height, you can tie the pointy end of a tape measure to the head, then raise it and read what the business end says.

The EZFX jib is pretty heavy, so with TWO extentions you have a big imbalance problem - can you get enough weight on the other end? Also think about the total weight your tripod/ped is now taking. I'd certainly spend some time checking that you can support it properly. One other thing to check is if the brakes can cope with the excess weight. momentum and inertia come into play too - popping the brake while the arm is in motion can exert a lot of force - is the brake up to it?

If you ask EZFX they will either say
Don't do it
We don't recommend this, but it may be ok - but the warranty won't cover it
Yep - no sweat, we do it all the time

As the manufacturer, I'd suggest you do at least ask them.

Hi I just got my New remote head today for my JIB. It so smooth i am sure i will get to do good work with the same. All I am trying to do now is to learn how to manage the Jib with this remote head.
