The kit mic's where never great. Good for reference to synch audio, but not much more. I have a Sennhieser K6/66 that an audio engineer said was the least expensive thing he would work with, and seemed good to me. Almost never fits the stock kit mic holder and I end up using a suspended mic mount (bands). Got it 3 cameras ago and still working. So never skimp on audio. It will outlast your camera. :)

sold off the camera mic. will use the $ to fund more gadgets!
