White balance range in Kelvin
 

Does anybody know what the range is on the HD1 or HD10 as far as white balance in Kelvin.

I know you can set your own white balance using a white piece of paper (I prefer a Kodak grey/white card) but I want to know what is the actual range that it can reach...

I looked in the manual and brochure and did not see it mentioned.

I did a couple of searches on the web but couldn't find anything.
As far as I know white balance in a camera works by shifting
the colors around. Thus any limitations are coming from the
ability to capture those colors in the first place.

I couldn't find anything either...

In a digital photo (still) camera the kelvin range is very broad...some cameras reach as low as 1500 and can go as high as 15,000 (have not seen one reach 20,000 yet)...

So I was hoping that I could tell if the HD1 or HD10 had the same latitude...maybe I will have to sit down and test it and post the results...

Most prosumer and consumer video cameras are able to achieve white balance in a range from about 2500K to 10,000K, occasionally higher. I'm surprised this information is not contained in the owners manual. You might try contacting JVC customer service if you require exact specifications.
