Pat is a genius. He's one of a kind.

As far as chroma noise, well...we lived with it. We made sure to light properly and it really isn't that noticeable in motion.

I do wish that it was even less noticeable. Color correction helped a bit.

JVC is seriously considering making a 24p model of this camera, which by the way would have less artifacts because there is less data to store therefore better quality compression.

Really? Wow...We should talk more about this in the HD10 forum!

I recommended to them that it would be great to have a knowledgeable voice coming from JVC participate in these discussions.

They were very opened to this, or starting a forum of their own.

Frederick - Although it is hard to judge the true scope of what you have shot being that I have only viewed the online highly compressed clips, all I can say is bravo!
It is clear you have a full understanding of how to get the most from this cam.
I agree with Alex, great lighting. Any tricks you can pass on to us, such as any cam settings or filters you found worked best? And thanks for the nice colour correction. Shows that the subtle colour saturation of the HD10 has tons of latitude in post.

Frederic, will the Lumiere HD be available for the PC environment.

Frederick - So, any tips on lighting or filters? Or are these Lumiere trade secrets?
PS - As nice as the visuals are, the audio bites.

Ken,

The only tip I really have regarding lighting is find a great Gaffer. Pat Blanckard is probably the best I've ever worked with and it shows. From setup to setup, he wouldn't let me adjust the iris but he would manipulate his setup whenever I felt it was too hot or too dark.

I used an ND filter for outside only.

During color correction, I darkened most of the shots and saturated the colors to create the club mood.

Regarding the audio, I am very surprised you don't think it's acceptable. I usually am very picky when it comes to audio and I was very pleased with the results. We recorded all the audio on DAT and synched it in FCP.

I have been out of discussions for a certain time because of a new job but I still come to see, from time to time. This is a very good display of the camera's possibilities. I always thought this camera could do very good for somebody who does understand it and you certainly do.

If I may...the dialogue track sounds clean to me, it maybe a lack of background ambience and music which is causing the audio track to come across as novice. As for the picture, it looks very good to me. It doesn't really have a "film look" but it doesn't look like traditional video, either. You can tell the quality is top notch either way, good job.
