Flipping LCD on GR-HD1U / JY-HD10U
Any brave soul out there have success in flipping the image of the LCD screen on your JVC GR-HD1U / JY-HD10U?
I hope to finish my 35mm adapter next week and the next thing I want to do is flip the screen so I can shoot upside-down. Roger |
I notice that if you turn the camera upside down, the LCD image goes rightside up.

Heath,
That is correct without the 35mm adapter. But when you add the adapter the image will be upside-down and will need to be flipped. I’ve noticed that when you are rotating the LCD to display forward, you reach a certain angle and the image flips. I just need to know what that switch is so I can figure out a way to activate it on demand. A nice feature of our JVC HD cameras is the microphone handle mount is the same diameter and thread as a tripod mounting screw. That should make it simpler to mount it upside-down on a tripod. Thanks, Roger |
Interesting...

If you're going to all the trouble of using the 35mm adapter, then why not rig up a viewfinder using the LCD Panel, a prism, and a first surface mirror? You can get them from Anchor Optics or American Sciene & Surplus.
I've built some interested stereophotography beamsplitters using their inexpensive, but very high grade surplus optics. |
Bill,
Do you have a photo or diagram of that viewfinder setup? |
