Looking for a VTR that can handle HD100 HDV
It could be a smaller Camcorder too. any suggestions?

The JVC BR-HD50 is the only pro deck I'm aware of for native 720p HDV playback.
|
Try the JVC CU-VH1
Do a google search for it... |
Hello
you could always go with the DR HD100 if your into maybe going Tapeless. Just A thought Joe |
thanks all but are there any camcorders available
Can The canons HDV playBack JVC material?
|
I second the JVC CU-VH1. It works great feeding footage onto my final cut pro 6.0.2.

Only JVC decks and cameras will work with the 720p JVC HDV.
The JVC CU-VH1 will work with 30p (maybe euro vs is 25p?) but not 24p (or 50p/60p on the 200 series). It is basically the guts & mechanism of a JY/GY-HD1/HD10 - I'd expect similar reliability and performance as one of those cameras. You might find one of the cameras reasonably used if you are happy working in 30p. Joe is still fishing for an endorsement and free product from focus enhancements ;^) (It is worth weighing in the firestore, but it's really project dependent how appropriate it is). |
I actually use the cu-vh1 with 720p24.

Hi Sean
you know i never thought about it. But your right, i do plug the DR Hd 100 alot But i got say the only thing i hear from Focus is would you like to Buy Etc etc you think they would least send me a extra batt. for the Dr 100 ha ha I think i got a better chance of hitting the lotto All kidding a side i do love the unit Joe |
I think we may have to wait for NAB for this one. One of my GY-HD100's firewire ports crapeed so I have to weigh the cost of goinf tapeless vs the cost of a deck. Then include the $1,500 repair to my camera. Id like to see a streamlined BR-50 at NAB this year that just plays with Firewire in 30 or 24p. For like $1,500 to $2,000. I dont think we will, I think tape is dead.

Regarding the JVC CU-VH1's 24p, according to the brochure:
Note: 24p playback is not possible through the LCD screen or the analog outputs. However, 24p recordings can be output through IEEE-1394 and dubbed to a non-linear editing system or D-VHS recorder. If you are staying with the HD100 for a while, this may be a worthwile purchase. |

Can the GR-HD1U Playback 25p? |
George and Amos - thanks for the correction! That's really handy to know. I guess I didn't check the specs thoroughly enough when I wrote it off before.
I assume there is a euro model as well? I wonder if it might do the same FW play through of 50p/60p? The BR-HD50 came out before the 50/60p cameras, but works with that footage. Randy - maybe you can hope for a discount in the BR-HD50 price. It's a lot of money for what it is, and it's price is more about the economics of scale. They could sell a lot more if JVC wrote off their R&D and tooling on the machine at this stage and it was half the price. |
