I shoot and edit 200 television commercials a year with my JVC 111. I also shoot and edit corporate videos. I always shoot in HDV and convert to SD.

Low-end corporate, but high-end ambition...

The term broadcast quality is so nebulous and the goalposts shift from time to time. For example a lot of "broadcast quality" video shot about a decade ago on Sony SP cameras actually looks quite noisy compared to even SD off the ProHD - especially after finally getting to air through multiple analogue generations.
I would say the ProHD cameras are definitely capable of producing broadcast quality video in the hands of an experienced operator with enough light. We use ours for a three day a week corporate TV show and in HD for small budget TVCs. |
I bought mine thinking I could become something. Then - I found this video, and I realized - I just can't compete....

I have HD 250chu and I shoot 6-10 long form (15 minute) Drive through car commercials a week for the local cable company. You know the type, where the dealer stands in front and talks about each car as it rolls up. The best things about it are 1) Car dealers/salesman are really good guys and 2)the gig is over in 15 minutes.
