Gy HD100 SD 24p vs. DVX 100b 24p

Any opinions on the quality differences, pro and cons between these 2 cameras? I own a Jvc hd100 and a panasonic dvc30. There are many things I love about the hd 100, but was wondering if in sd 24p mode which cam (dvx100b) or (hd100) looks better for a film - look? Thanks

ive used both. the HD100 in sd 24p blows the DVX out of the water. bear in mind the DVX has its own type of "magical" gammas that will make the picture look different, but its easy to match the two in post. take a look at the scene files provided at the top of this forum. What cant be matched is the immediately obvious amount of detail evident in the 100's image as opposed to the always soft DVX image. They're both great cams, but unless you need a smaller form factor SD 4:3 image, the 100 is a far better choice. The only area the DVX might be more favorable is in sensitivity (the DVX is a lot more sensitive)

Thanks Alan. I really love the HD100, I do alot of 2 cam shots and use the "PANAMATCH" recipe to shoot in to match the DVC 30. It works with a little CC in post. I was just looking for opinions between the two and thanks for yours.

indeed. I love the 100. its a great system that should still be a viable tool for several more years. cheers.

I agree Alan, a good investment indeed!
