DVHSCap workflow
I'm strugling to capture 60p, hopefully someone may enlight me.
I've downloaded Firewire SDK from Apple's developer's site and many applications came within it: AVCBrowser, DVHSCap, VirtualDV, VirtualDVHS... What's the workflow here? Tried DVHSCap but it says: "Cannot capture because no DVHS/HDV device has been detected". Camera (HD100) is on and I'm able to play using AVCBrowser but can't preview nor capture anything. Any thoughts? Appreciate any help. Thanks in advance. |
Nope, there is another application in there called AVC Cap that you need to use. DVHS emulates a physical DVHS tape deck that works via firewire. I've actually recorded and played back HD off the air by connecting my HDTV firewire output to the Mac and using DVHS.

AVCvideoCap did the trick. Thanks, Greg.

For the record...
I use DVHScap for all my stream captures with my JVC BR-HD50 deck. It has the remote "deck" controls that make the operation much easier. Both these apps need to recognize the connected hardware - I don't see why AVC would recognize when DVHScap wouldn't. I preview footage using monitor attached to deck. |
Skip MPEGStreamclip for this particular task (use it for many, many others) and get ClipWrap which makes a cleaner QuickTime file and quicker.
