Umm...fake.

Nate Weaver April 12th, 2005 08:40 PM

Doesn't look the best, but if you saw the original post and source of the PDF, there's no reason to doubt whether it's fake or not.

I've seen some pretty amateur looking press releases before...

Chris Hurd April 12th, 2005 08:43 PM

Definitely an amateur job on that PDF. Scary thing is, it might not be fake!

Kevin Dooley April 13th, 2005 06:13 AM

Yeah, there has been some really half-@ssed documentation put out by these manufacturers before...

In fact I posted a powerpoint presentation on the Sony Z1 that I got directly from my Sony rep, and it looked like something a high schooler threw together (no offense to any high schoolers roaming these boards)

Scott Webster April 13th, 2005 09:31 PM

What can I say? it arrived in my inbox and I had registered with the UK website with my email addy.

Yes its not a PR masterpiece, but why would anyone go to the trouble of creating a fake pdf, when photos and official info are readily available?

May be someone who is familiar with photoshop can prove whether the dimensions line up for the 'shoulder shot'?

Chris Hurd April 14th, 2005 09:02 AM

I don't think there's any real "need" to prove the validity of this photo or the PDF. It's probably legit. Thing is, after next week at NAB, there should be a bunch of photos of the HD100 being held by many people... and I hope to be one of 'em!

Joe Carney April 14th, 2005 10:08 AM

I have no doubt a well intentioned marketing person got creative with Photoshop. Nothing wrong with that as long as the picture is not misleading. Happens all the time.

Dave Ferdinand April 16th, 2005 11:33 AM

Well... It looks real to me.

Buf even if it isn't, it's most likely going to look very much like that indeed.
