Tapeless Workflow for HD100
 

Hi all,

I'm re-entering video production after a layoff of several years, and am just now reacquainting myself with what's out there. I have an HD100 that still works great, and will be editing on Adobe CS4/5.

I'd like to avoid the whole tape thing if possible (although I'll still use tape as a backup), and go with a completely tapeless workflow. Question: what are you HD100 folks using for tapeless acquisition/editing? What seems to work well with the HD100/Premiere setup? I have an old Focus unit that's hopelessly out of date now, and would love an SD card solution, if available. If that's not the best way to go, though, I'll consider other options.

Well up untill recently I had been using an old firestore FS4HD drive for tapeless with my HD100, but recently just got this and seems to works great, nice and small..

What is the storage capacity of this unit? It wasn't listed on the page, which I thought was strange... Looks really portable and easy to use. So this is working out well for you?

Tom, it looks like you add storage via a CF card.

Most of my shooting happens in a studio setting, so I use a laptop with Adobe OnLocation and capture directly to the hard drive. Works great.

Ah,,, got it. You have to slide a card into the unit. It is not built in... Is that correct?

Tom, yes, that's correct.

I am very interested in this unit so let me see if i get this right, this unit will record in HD in all formats on the GYHD100U (720p/24 and 30) in a format compatible with Final Cut Pro Studio? Also a couple of questions what kind of battery time does this thing have and how many minutes of recording time do you get per gig in HD mode? Guessing about 5 minutes per gig?
