Hello,

I uploaded some footage I shot with the GY-HD100. I was not able to capture anything else but pal 50i to my computer (I use fcp). I shot some roadwork during the day and night to give you an impression of the camera. It was 'point and shoot work' so no fancy stuff, no nothing. For some reason the clip got saved out at 1024 horizontal res, but after you resize it down 720 across...

It looks pretty much as sharp as 720p scaled down to SD, which is VERY sharp. Like Digibeta sharp.

That's awesome! The FX-1 for some reason shooting DV mode never looked as good as I thought it should...taking the image from a 960x1080 CCD and scaling down to DV res should look ridiculously sharp...

That looks good, not HD1 like at all.

The chromatic aberration is very noticeable in light sources on the night shots.

From what you say I'm assuming you shot in 50i DV mode. As Nate says it looks sharper than any SD camera (within this price range).

25p HD would be welcome...

I shot in interlaced pal yes.. I shot in in all the formats but this is the only one FCP will let me upload. So I am afraid I can't show those Dave,

Looks very sharp. Very nice. Purple CA is really visible on night lights though.

I guess we'll have to wait for software updates to get the most out of this camera.

On a side note, does it do 50i 4:3? The HD1/HD10 were 4:3 when in DV mode, but your stuff is 16:9. I'm wondering if it's optional on that camera.

Thanks for posting that. I see the CA as well but it's not overwhelming. Anyway, one small (large) request. Can you post the RAW m2t file you captured? I'd like to try a 50i file in Liquid 6.1

The raw file? I have no idea how. And yes the camera does shoot in 4:3 pal its switchable.. Can somebody tell me what the "chromatic abberation" is. My english is not that good.

"chromatic aberration" is when the lens elements don't perfectly focus the varying wavelengths of light to exactly the same point.

The result is usually a green or purple fringe around objects, especially on high-contrast transitions (light to dark edges).

Barry, what is the enlargement of the sample images? Could you please also post at least one full frame at its native resolution for comparison?

No enlargement whatsoever. Those are extractions at native pixel resolutions. No manipulation of any type, just cropped down so they fit on the page.

CA or not the images are nicely saturated. The color is rich. Was that on the default settings (color wise)?
