24p m2t's to play with

Nobody is posting m2t's lately so I'll cough up a couple.

First is an eL train at LaSalle and Lake St. on the Loop (Chicago)
Click to download eL train m2t (40MB) and in case you can't work with m2t's here is an example wmv Click here for wmv

Second is Santa Clause in a glass ball. This represents a worst case scenario (full zoom, +18db, rack focus illuminated by 100 watt incadescent at 12 feet). At the end of the same m2t I setup the camera for Cinelike HD24p to represent a much better balanced look.

A third one of my guitar. Click here to download (also Cinelike24)

all the best,

Dear Stephen,

I thank You for Your clips. From time to time it is nice to see some new footage from the HD100.
For the second clip did You really use gain +18dB? It does not look noisy to me.
Once again colour aberration is present, but recently somebody said to me: "Do not care about such 'problems', use it as an effect. Kubrick, Hitchcock and Fassbinder would have done so." - a substantive argument, is it not?

Merry Christmas!

Great depth of field on the Santa footage, was that because it was fully zoomed out?, how far away was the camera?

PS: If I dont buy the HD100 or the Z1 im gonna burst!

Can't I just tape the 2 up together like Ripley in Aliens?

I’m very surprised, the +18 gain looks fine for that application, it kind of worked for that shot. I would have liked to see the zoomed out shot and rack focus done in the 0db gain and cine24p but hey it still looks good. :-)

P.S. Steve that photo is hilarious!!!!!!

Just makes me more happy that I got the HD100U =)

well... you get bored and one thing leads to another.

I'm just teasing myself for the day my HD101 lands on my door, Muhahaha!!

Stephen L. Noe December 17th, 2005 03:37 PM

I posted another one of a guitar above.

all the best,

~Stephen,

How far away was your camera for the santa clip, 3-4 meters?

-------
Also, where can I find an m2t codec for my WM Player, I had one ages ago but lost it, the VLC player is a little slugish, I remember the WM player being smoother?

Between 2 and 3 meters (8'). I don't know where to find an m2t codec for Windows media. You can download a trial of Womble mpeg wizard and watch the m2t's in many different ways (I frame only B frame only P frame only or all the frames).

People don't talk much about the macro ring on the lens but if you're in tight quarters and the subject is too close to the camera to get focus, you can use the macro ring to get outstanding DOF.

Here is a 480p60 file that uses macro. You can conform this file to 60p, 30p, 15p, 45p for different slow motion effects in your NLE.

Steve - I think this is what you need. I know it allows you to play .ts files and I think it enables .m2t files as well?

I also use CapDVHS which i think has it's own Direct Show filter:
