Question on SSE and HDV to DV conversion

On another thread someone posted the following link stating it shows SSE, http://www.cineform.com/video/slomo2.wmv , excuse my ignorance but what is the problem with the footage? Is it the 'shadow' or 'double' line of the wall where it meets the sky when the shot transitions to night? If not, can someone please explain SSE to me?

Does the HD100 convert from HDV to DV on the camcorder similar to the way Sony does it on the FX1?

Look at the bottom of the frame, and you'll see a distinct side-by-side effect right down the middle, the left half is noticeably darker than the right half.

And no, the HD100 doesn't have any built-in downconversion capability.

Barry, thanks for your help...

My monitor's brightness was set too low, I now see it clearly...
