Jonathan,

Thanks for such a detailed, well reasoned reply. You're a great resource for people here at this board.

Have to say I'm very impressed with the JVC folks here. Very active board and very supportive.

Whether the participant is a beginner or a seasoned independent, a true "independent"who works without studio support and entre or "insider" whose work appears regularly on cable or network television, we all have a reason for being here. And, more importantly, threre's a reason why a large group like the one at DVxUser.com would not break-up but simply migrate, en masse, to another when it was shut down. We are the future of filmmaking; the individula who cares enough to reach out a hand of help or need andf have both answered because we are wholly dependent on each other and recognize that together we will shape the future of television. JVC realizes this and has focused its resources to this part of the spectrum. To help us is to help themselves and thus their shareholders and therein lies the bottom line. It's one thing when a group of independents calls itself the future of the industry but quite another when that mantle has been bestowed by a major corporation. Our responaibility is not to screw it up...to learn and to impart as much as we can and incorporate the knowledge into our films or shorts. For to do so puts to rest once and for all those voices that used to mock the efforts of the independent in support of the majors. In short, we are the future of filmmaking and JVC is betting billions on just that prognostication.

OK, Sunday sermon's over. Gotta go listen to the real preacher!
