sticky GOP thingy?
Is the stick GOP thing very noyicable. I've read reviews that mention this, for example in foliage or grass, where they appear to freeze for 6 frames. IS this only nioticable when scrubbing in post or is it noticable on final output as well? Is it even noticable?
Man this camera buying thing is painful!! Thanks, Andrew |

That'll do me. I'm not reading any more reviews!!! Thanks Andrew |
Well it still has me worried. Adam Wilt mentioned this in the DV mag review of the HD100 (it may be on the web site but good luck finding it) and I don't think one person here said a thing about it. He can't be the only guy with the only camera whose seen this and I think it was an A model. And I think it was a different HD100 for the shootout (was the A even out then?) so two cameras did it.
Any one else see grass, reeds, leaves and the like freezing, "sticking" for six frames then moving along till the next freeze? |
Actually foliage such as trees blowing in the wind is one of my favorite subjects to look at with this camera. Never noticed them sticking at all. To me it's very cinematic. If they do stick for a few frames, it's not an issue anyone would notice I think. It’s very fluid to my eyes.
The only problem I have so far is the frame echoes of the MPEG encoder on blurred subjects. Here's my thread on that: http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=68745 Had a couple engineers email me, but they haven't responded to me for a while. As of yet this effect is a mystery. But even if it's not fixable, the camera is still worth your money in every other respect. Nothing compares to that hands-on-the-lens feel. Hopefully I'll get to the bottom of this separate issue when I am able to send my camera in for inspection mid-July. |

If no-one else has noticed it on these forums, then perhaps he has used same camera for both tests and it has a fault. lets hope Andrew |
The more likely scenario is that Mr. Wilt's eyes are keener than most as he was specifically looking for this and most defects, as it's his job while doing reviews. Wishful thinking won't help as it is an unfortunate drawback to HDV. Fortunately it is not a deal breaker.
