JVC Introduces the GY-HD110U ProHD Camcorder

In providing our customers with enhancements to our ProHD Professional High Definition product line, JVC is pleased to announce the release of the GY-HD110U, the latest version of our HD100 series of ProHD camcorders.

"As the ProHD product line progresses, JVC will work to continually improve the performance of our products and bring to market requested functionalities aimed to benefit our customers," states Craig Yanagi, National Marketing Manager, Creation Products.

With the same design as the GY-HD100U, the GY-HD110U implements a number of additional features requested by our growing circle of producers and cinematographers and now added to the multiple-award winning GY-HD100U:

ProHD HD100 Series Camcorders Attributes:
· True 24 frame Progressive recording
· Full HD resolution 1280 x 720 image capture
· Interchangeable lenses with bayonet mount
· Professional design and compact form factor
· Three 1/3-inch native high definition CCDs
· Output in multiple HD formats including 1080i
· HDV and DV compatible
· Time Code
· Standard ¼-inch tripod mount

New GY-HD110U Features:
· Black and white viewfinder display mode
· Simultaneous use of both eyepiece viewfinder and tri-mode LCD display when powered by Anton Bauer or IDX battery system
· Selectable mirror mode on vertically flipped LCD display
· Adjustable setting of FOCUS ASSIST function
· Choice of three image formats on composite out (letterbox, squeeze, side cut)
· User selectable DNR ON/OFF menu setting
· 13 segment audio level indicator
· Manual audio control within FAS (Full Auto Shooting) mode
· Audio limiter available in manual mode
· Parallel power off management of DR-HD100 hard disk recorder

The GY-HD110U is able to use all accessories including lenses and battery system adapters designed for the HD100 series of camcorders with no modifications necessary.

The introductory suggested list pricing for the GY-HD110U will be $6,295.00, which is identical to the preceding model. Shipment of the GY-HD110U is scheduled to begin in mid July 2006.

Once again we in the UK get hit. I was told there was a £400 price increase over the preceding model.

None of those upgrades really excites me. At all. Since it doesn't look like it will cost any more, I guess it's OK, but no "wow" factor here. The main thing I'd be looking for is to have some more of the quirks worked out.

I really don't need the upgrades eithers, although they are nice...I wonder if JVC will offer a way to upgrade a current HD100 to this.

i'd seriously doubt it - tho most could be software updates

Those new features are good to have but it's not really much of an upgrade and certainly no reason for us all to trade in our HD100s!

For 720/50 or 60 on the 200 the trade-in might well be worth it though.

I was just saying that since it seems to be largely a software update, maybe the HD100 can get upgraded if desired...if not, oh well. I love my HD100 anyway.

Steve, JVC is not offering a upgrade to the GYHD100 with the new specs on the HD110. The only way to acquire the new features is by purchasing the new GYHD110 camcorder.

This is why the GYHD100U has the Anton Bauer Promotion available and the GYHD110 does not.

The Anton Bauer promotion assists in getting rid of all current inventory, both at JVC and in Dealers stock. Considering that the AB promotion provides $1200 in free products, the GYHD100 is still a great purchase even without the new features.

I was just wondering, but don't get me wrong, I am much happier with the free AB I got than the HD110 features.

yup... same here.. the new features aint worth $1200 (free A/B)

I dont get it. I read threw the list of features and new shoulder pad wasnt one of them! LOOK AT THAT THING! All nice and curvy.

I wonder if I could buy one of those and slap it on my outdated hd100s?

It looks like they also took the nice leatherette ear cup, and covered it with a foam pad.

There are HD100 Pics with the same attachements, but as we know, don't come with the camera. Not sure if JVC is changing it or not though, but I have seen those pics of the HD100 before.
