Component v HD-SDI

Hi

I have a HD100 and will be capturing from the component out. However, I was speaking to someone recently who said that you lose a lot of quality through the cable when you use component out, and that HD SDI is much better.

Firstly can anyone tell me if this is true. Secondly, which of the new JVC HD - GY cameras has HD SDI as standard?

Thanks

Trevor

There might be some subtle noise going through analog component, but its not really a world of a difference imo.

SDI is great when you can use it, but there is nothing wrong with component analog in my experience.

Where you definitely would want SDI is for Digital Betacam and HDCAM-SR or D5 originated material.
SDI would maintain the 10-bit integrity.
