New HD lenses from Canon
Am I correct to assume that the KT20x5B KRS Lens for 1/3-Inch CCD will work on an HD100?
http://www.ibcnews.com/articles/view...e.jsp?id=59814 "Also new for IBC 2006, the KT20x5B KRS HDgc lens features a 20X zoom ratio and a wide angle of 5mm for a focal length of 5–100mm; it is designed for portable HD cameras using 1/3-inch imagers and is 16:9 and 4:3 switchable. Like the KH20x6.4 KRS 1/2-inch lens, the KT20x5B KRS ( and the KJ20x8.5B KRS lens for 2/3-inch imager cameras) includes Canon’s Shuttle Shot feature." |
Yes. Any lens that is 1/3", B4 (bayonet) mount will work with the HD100 without the need for an adapter.
This particular lens you mention has been designed for HD 1/3" sensors and seems quite promising from what I've read. |
Good article, more so since we are also looking at a better lens to replace the supplied one. Does anyone know the price range for the Canon lens?
|
Was there any word on price? I assume it also fits the H1; is that correct?
|
Sorry but no that is not correct. It will not fit the XL H1.
Keep in mind that the XL H1 has an XL lens mount, not a B4 lens mount. These two types of lens mounts are not compatible with each other. Plus, the non-removeable, built-in grip handle on the XL H1 prevents the mounting of a standard broadcast video lens with its own grip handle, since two objects (that is, two grip handles) cannot occupy the same space at the same time. |
I'd have to guess this new lens would be at least in the $10k range.

The 1/2 KH 19x6.7 KAS is $7k at B&H. Do you think this KT 20x5B KRS would be more or less?
