Clip from New Short I Am working on with HD100/Mini35

Hi,

I JUST wrapped a 5 day shoot yesterday for a short I am working on. Didn't even begin to edit, but wanted to share a small clip of raw footage, There is no sound linked/synced yet except fro camera mic. I will sync up sound later once I have a final cut.

I should finish within 2 weeks, as I plan on submitting to Sundance.

To check it out go here: http://hd-motionpictures.com/Reflect...0Sample%20.mov

I only did it for WMV for now, but flip4mac can be used for mac users. Its 11 MB, thus not full quality.

Questions are welcome as usual.

very, very nice... great composition, great lighting. If they rest of the shoot looks like this, it will be well worth the watch!

care to share you settings, or are those secret? how did you light this scence? and what will your workflow be for editing?

The settings you need to thank Tim Dashwood for his Bleach Bypass. I know very little about lighting and have a DP for that. We used a bit of overhead light and some light stands. The rest of the movie vary look wise, but its similar. Workflow will be HDXDV to FCP5.

Thanks for the kind comments. Let's see how this will turn out after I finish. The settings were Tim Dashwood's Bleach Bypass.

dweeb question

What is the aspect ratio you are using here. And how did you get that ratio.
Thanks,
Jon

PS nice work!

Its 3:00 but I am not using that. I will be using 2:35.1 in stead. Use FCP to get it. Thanks

Looks great, Brian. I love the lighting. Good luck and hope to see you @ Sundance.

ratio

hey brian, you said that you will be using 2:35:1 and you get that through final cut. But when I try to export as a different ratio...everything looks distorted and stretched. How do you export without this happening. Thanks and it really does look great

You have to go to your "Effects" and pick Widescreen and then the aspect ratio. I prefer 2:35.1 as it is regular cinema widescope. I don't export it, but simply leave as letterbox.

Great lighting. Do you have a lighting diagram or description? With the Mini35 to manage DOF, what drove the decision to keep the background so dark and the foreground so hot?

BTW, where you on a dolly or crane?
