I've created a "How To" that you can probably adapt to your NLE. You should have no problem getting SD50p to work great for your project.

Jaadgy.
Use the HD-SD50 to shoot at 16:9 progressive with 576 lines, this will give you a 50% real slow mo that wil upscale nicely to 720p. Then use AfterEffects' TimeWarp (FCP frame blending is not good enough) or Shake's Adaptive speed adjustment to slow down the footage even more and it will be pretty convincing. Also remember to increase the shutter speed to capture more detail (this is a very subjective choice and depends on the footage)
