designing a case for HD100

I have the HD100 w/IDX. I'm going to build a plywood case for it. Any suggestions regarding what else the case should accomodate? DV tapes for example? Battery charger?

Any other considerations?

I don't tend to bother with having space for tapes in my case, they can go elsewhere in my kit, but I make sure I've got stuff like all my batteries, charger, leads, adaptors etc. Also do you have a pro battery kit yet? If you don't, depending on how you shoot, you'll probably want to get one, which will affect the needs for your case size considerably (akes actual camera slightly different shape & length, batteries are bigger, charger is massive if you want to keep that in your case).

My rule of thumb is everything in the camera case to keep it powered; a/c, battery(s) and charger. This is all I need to shoot (other than having to buy tapes.)

Ummm... what's an a/c? I'm sure it's not an air conditioner. What is it?

Hey Brian,
there is a company in australia who make a soild plywood style case with metal corners and edgeing.....i have one and they are great....they are fitted specifically for the HD-100 with Matte Box, and Batt adapter attached.
i can fit a few batts, camera light, rain cover, tapes etc not bad for $440 AUS

Bruce,

Air, I wish, but no...it's an a/c adapter to run your camera in d/c.
Pelican makes some great cases (crush proof, water proof, and just plain tuff) where my camera rests when it's not in use.
You can take these babies from the Amazon rain forests to the African deserts!
They have plenty of sizes to choose from...http://www.pelican.com/

How long should a hard case be? does 3" of foam on each side of the camera sound about right?
