Once you get used to it, you'll be ashamed of saying you were dissapointed with the purchase :-)

I've had an XL1 before too, and I have to admit it is a big step (especially if you're used to the standard lens). But it is a step forward, so you won't regret putting the effort in...

Hi Werner,
I have tried shooting HDVSD 50p and no shudder at all. The thing is what preset do i use to capture the footage? I am using FCP and cant get anything at all. Is it SD?

It has SD dimensions, so it is indeed SD (720x576), but it is encoded in MPEG2 (to make the bandwith of 25 Mbps enough for 50p). I'm not that experienced with Mac or FCP, but there should be an option to capture it as m2t - within FCP I suppose? Then you should be able to use it in a DV25(widescreen)-project...

50p is indeed a lot easier to shoot, but if you look at http://users.telenet.be/wespproductions/new-page-9.htm, you can see some badminton footage in 25p (if all is well I retained the 25p in webencoding) and footage of planes in 25p - and all taken from the shoulder. I might be subjective as I shot it myself, but I can see no objectionable judder...
