Firewire cables

Rehi Lisa,

Yes, you'll be safe as long as you've been careful and don't have the firewire cable turned upside down - otherwise, when you turn things on, ... zap! A few device manufactures have a certain order how they want things turned on but that's rare - always READ THE "fine" MANUAL to be safe!

One other important point - always be EXTRA careful plugging in an removing the firewire on the camera. An untold number of owners have damaged their firewire port connectors (physically and/or electrically) when either plugging in the cable, removing it, or stressing it while the cable is in the camera. Other than these matters, you should be home free.

Enjoy, Michael

Hi Michael,

It seems the firewire ports are extra sensitive. I know I will be checking to make sure which end is up before I hook it up. I've been avoiding using it up until now because I really had not needed but now that projects are in the works it's time to connect.

Thanks to everyone here that takes time to help me out.

Best Regards,
Lisa
