hd110e shoot - Con Funghi

These are a few half-res grabs from a micro series that weīre currently editing (16 episodes, 3 minutes each). Shooting took place over 10 days in april and may, all in all good fun.
For most shots I used the jvc wide angle converter, shot in 24p with the goal of familiarizing ourselves with the workflow and see what the benefits and kinks were (which we did, in great and painful abundance).

Some of the shots Iīm quite happy with - some others didnīt work out so well. Since the schedule was incredibly rushed we didnīt have time for proper tryouts, so we ran pretty much blind into the nasty world of CA.

here are a few grabs, in some of them Iīve fiddled with the colors - no idea yet what the final look will be like.

Thomas,

How did the wide angle converter world out for you? Did you do testing with and without the apparatus before you shot? Did you notice any difference in the image?

Your screen grabs are a little on the dark and flat side. Did you have lighting equipment or did you mostly rely on available light?

The converter worked out pretty well. Since our "set" was extremely confined the little bit of extra screen estate was very helpful. Itīs not overly much though, and if it hadnīt been part of a JVC special offer I probably wouldnīt have bought it but gotten a .6 instead.
Other than the larger field of view I didnīt notice any differences. The only thing that bothers me a bit is that it doesnīt have a filter thread.

About the light - one of our biggest problems. We had some light equipment (a handful of 300W lamps), but with it we just managed to provide enough light to shoot by, at the beginning we tried for more interesting light but with the available lamps we then decided that bringing the overall level to something the camera would work ok with was probably the best weīd be able to do consistently.
All the outdoors shots were done with available light only.

Proper lighting is definitely something I want to try for the next big project.
